The Area
The Abbesses neighborhood of Montmartre still retains a wonderful 'village' quality - stroll along 'rue des Abbesses' and you will find dozens
of small shops with the best Paris quality of foods, patisserie, fruits, charcuterie, cafés, bars & informal restaurants, all catering to the local
Montmartrois 'on the go'.
The apartment is just 60 yards from the Abbesses Metro.
Rue Abbesses is always lively, day and night, and weekend street-markets add to its fun and variety.
Our favorite stop for a quick bite is the "Traiteur Asiatique", on the north side of the street, but really one is spoiled for choice. If that
is not enough, the famous "rue des Trois Freres" is just round the corner.
Location
Line 12 of the Paris Metro (from Place de la Concorde, or St-Lazare station, or any connecting metro line) brings you to "Abbesses" - the exit is
in the middle of the lively Abbesses square, complete with carousel and an original 'Art-Moderne' metro station.
Rue de la Vieuville is 30 yards north-east of the exit (as you look uphill to the Butte de Montmartre).
Number 6 is the second building on the right along the rue, blue entry door, and the apartment is on the first floor up a short flight of stairs.
There is an additional door (metal decorative grill) inside the main outside door which needs a key.
You can be adventurous and get here by rail all the way from Paris Airport Charles de Gaulle: - by train from CDG to Gare du Nord, transfer to
La Chapelle metro station, take line 2 (direction: 'Porte Dauphine') for 3 stops to 'Pigalle', change there to line 12 (direction: 'Porte de la
Chapelle') one stop to Abbesses.
On the left side of the page, close to the bottom, choose 'Car
Transfer'.

Enter this spacious first-floor apartment and you immediately feel 'at home' and secure in your own pied-a terre, located in the center of
Abbesses, the most charming section of Montmartre.
The large but cosy salon is illuminated by 4 double-glazed windows looking down on the cobblestones of rue de la Vieuville which provides extra
insulation from any street noise in this already very quiet apartment.
Parquet flooring, new furnishings and decorations as well as top quality equipment make you feel that you have checked-in to a luxury suite in a
5-star Paris hotel. Only the porter and room-service is missing!
The long salon is divided into 3 distinct areas.
On your left, there is a sitting area with an 82 cm liquid screen TV with DVD player and a CD Stereo- the latter two are discretely hidden in the
cupboards below the television.
The large, comfortable sofa easily converts to a double sized pull-out bed to sleep 2 additional guests if needed.
There is an elegant new dining table which easily accommodates 6 people, and can be expanded for 8.
Although the table is newly made, it has been done in a classic style to mix well with the decor of both old and new.
The central space between the living area and dining area has a lovely writing desk where you could compose postcards or set up your laptop computer for internet use.
Above the entertainment centre is an assortment of book and magazines about Paris as well as France.
We have left a comprehensive binder of information for your use that contains copies of the metro plan, local maps and guide book information to Montmartre, and museums of France, etc.
The main bedroom is to your left from the entrance off the sitting room.
It features 2 twin beds which can be joined together to make a large, King sized bed.
There is also a full en-suite with a shower, sink, towel warmer and toilet.
With 2 windows looking into the courtyard, and the addition of electric shutters, this room is very quiet and comfortable.
The charming second bedroom is at the other end of the salon, with a double insulated window overlooking the street.
The Queen bed in this room sleeps 2 comfortably, and there is a large amount of space in the floor-to-ceiling mirrored closet to store your belongings.
Opposite is the main bathroom which has a bathtub plus fitted shower, toilet, wash-basin and a combination washer-dryer should you want to do any laundry.
There is also a towel warmer to take the chill off of a cool morning.
The Kitchen has everything you could need for your time in Paris, except for a live-in cook and maid.
It is set up ergonomically with all the required equipment for you to make a quick café or a gourmet dinner for 8.
The large cupboard contains cleaning materials and a full assortment of tools and indispensable bits and pieces.
The reason, by the way, this apartment is called Abbesses 'Atelier', is because the owner's son has adorned the walls of the salon and hallway with
his wonderful photography.
