The Area
The apartment is an ideal base for exploring the vibrant and eclectic Montmartre area, which despite now being home to numerous French movie and television stars,
has retained a village atmosphere with delicious food shops where you can join in the French ritual of picking out wines and cheeses to try, and authentic bustling cafes
where you can relax and watch others shop.
There are many interesting sights to see, including the Sacre Coeur (2 minutes' walk) with its breathtaking views over Paris, described by the novelist Zola as 'a large
piece of nougat', Place du Tertre where you can watch artists working, and the famous Moulin Rouge cabaret, painted by Toulouse-Lautrec in the 1890s when the dancer
La Goulue created the 'cancan' (2 minutes' walk). Just on the doorstep is the building where Van Gogh lived with his brother from 1886, and first became inspired by
Impressionism, painting many Montmartre scenes. The Montmartre vineyards, the mythical Bateau-Lavoir where Picasso and the artistic elite had their ateliers, the last
remaining windmills of Montmartre, used as a venue for Sunday dances and painted by Renoir in 1876, and the Cafe des Deux Moulins where Jeunet's film Amelie Poulin was
partly shot are also right on your doorstep.
Location
Located in the quieter part of the very fashionable and chic rue Lepic, said to be the most beautiful street in Montmartre, the apartment is nevertheless only a couple
of minutes' walk from the busier end which takes on the air of a market on Sundays, when the road is closed to through traffic all day and shopkeepers set up outside on
the sidewalks. The choice of food (and other) shops is vast and the quality is excellent making for a colorful and convivial food-shopping experience. In addition, as
you might expect in France, where gastronomy is taken very seriously, restaurants in the area are numerous and varied, and frequented by local people; an ideal way to
sample the local atmosphere and try out your French.
When you have thoroughly explored the winding cobbled streets and picturesque staircases, you may wish to go further a field. The apartment is well served by public
transport, including a choice of 2 metro lines, with line 12 (3 minutes' walk) direct to the large department stores (including the very chic left bank store Le Bon Marche),
Place de la Concorde with the nearby Tuileries gardens and Palais de L'Elysee, and line 2 (also 3 minutes) which goes to the Arc de Triomphe and the Avenue des Champs Elysees.
There are also buses (80, 95 and Montmartrobus), which stop very close to the apartment which are convenient for visiting exhibitions at the Louvre or Musee d'Orsay, and
the exclusive left bank such as St-Germain-des-Pres and the Luxembourg gardens.
We have made arrangements with a chauffeur service to provide transportation from the airport to our apartments.
On the left side of the page, close to the bottom, choose 'Car Transfer'.

The apartment is on the first floor of a striking Haussmannian-style building (with an elevator), and looks onto a quiet, tree-lined courtyard.
Early in the last century, Charles Leandre, the famous artist and cartoonist, had his atelier in the centre of a large courtyard formerly located in the courtyard
along with its various fauna, including a boar!
Nowadays the courtyard is silent, apart from bird song.
You will be able to relax, far from the noise and crowds, after the day's sightseeing.
The flat has been totally redecorated and refurbished.
It is typically Parisian, with 100-year old oak floors, moldings, ornamental fireplaces, including a Prussian stove, and large windows.
It is cozy in winter and cool in summer.
The 40 square meters (430 square feet) include an entrance hall, lounge-dining room, bedroom, kitchen and shower room.
The radiators can all be controlled individually.
This one bedroom apartment is perfect for a romantic getaway or for a young family exploring the capital, since access to the bedroom is through the living room.
The long entrance hall leads to the small but practical kitchen, which is fully equipped should you wish to cook at home.
It also includes a washing machine for your convenience.
Upon entering the apartment, to the right is the living room and dining area with a large, comfortable sofa and armchair.
We also have an antique dining table and chairs for your dine-in pleasure.
This room overlooks the courtyard which makes it perfect for breakfasting on delicacies bought from one of the tempting local boulangeries.
It is the perfect room for you to plan your day's sightseeing or for evenings when you favour dining in.
The sofa folds out to a double bed with high-quality bed linen.
If there is nothing to entice you to one of the numerous local cinemas or theatres, there is a good selection of films to watch, cable TV, or books to read.
The bedroom, next to the living room, has an extremely comfortable queen-size bed with Ralph Lauren cotton sheets.
Should you prefer that this bed be set up as two twins, we can accommodate you if you let us know in advance.
There is plenty of closet space to hang clothes in the charming armoire, as well as an antique chest of drawers.
The bedside lights can be dimmed to accommodate late-night readers. A hairdryer is at your disposal, as is an iron and ironing board.
The furniture in the apartment is predominantly antique, but the flat retains a contemporary feel with the use of colour and some modern furnishings.
The shower room, located to the left of the entrance hall, has been recently refurbished and is bright and tasteful.
The walls in the apartment are adorned with photographs, antique mirrors and glass items purchased in the shop a few doors up the road.
If you need to be accompanied by an English/French interpreter or have bookings you need made by telephone, this can be arranged through the owner of this apartment.
